Prissy's Historical Morning Tea & Brunch

Prissy was happy to help get the paper and greet the morning. The skies were starting to turn blue but the clouds were low like most days here. Eagerly, we went to do our errands. After dropping my special needs son off at his day program, then to the Old Town post office we decided to take my favorite route home. I call it the long way home....I told she was in historical country with the likes of

Louis Wolf
Helen Hunt Jackson
Pablo Apis
Erle Stanley Gardner
John Magee
Ysabel Barnett
Walter Vail
Louis Roripaugh
Sam Hicks

and many who passed thru the valley on the Butterfield stage

Hunting lodge style Cooper Landing Post Office, built in 1921,

Built in 1917 was the first church building in Temecula. The church was moved from its original location to its present location in Sam Hicks Monument Park; and now serves as a wedding chapel.

I pointed out where we'll be visiting tomorrow night

During the mid-1800's, the Butterfield Overland Mail company contracted with the federal government to deliver mail and goods. Temecula was one of the stops along the Butterfield Stage route which followed the Southern Emigrant Trail.

80 years old family run...burgers fries and the best biscuits & gravy in town. On Friday nights it's the meet-up place car collectors and enthusiasts. Fun to drive by and see the Hot Rods parked in front.

Leaving Old Town Temecula and rounding the corner to horse country

This old church always makes me wonder how it looked before the roads and housing additions so I did some research and found it was The Pujol School House

Opened in 1889. Originally located where the museum stands today, the building was moved twice. Although not the first school in Temecula area, it served as the first school actually built in Old Town.

passing many ranchettes and horse farms

white fences for miles and look the morning fog is starting to lift

making a stop for something "Fresh & Easy"

back in the car to drive past the favorite Red Hawk falls....seems all the schools in the area take their team pictures, prom pictures here. Also, many lovely brides.  It's right next to the Red Hawk golf course.

we see the clouds are lifting in the valley

A few years back we attended this festival.  Temecula is famous for Hot Air Balloon rides and for it's Wineries. Prissy will not be going in a hot air balloon, but we may tour Wine Country later this month.

Morning tea & brunch and

since we are in SO CA we'll start with a Granola Scone

fresh berries, egg beaters and fresh squeezed orange juice

time to savor and talk about things to come

while enjoying delicious  food and this beautiful morning

the colors of nature and teapot of Yorkshire Gold

Karen, What a beautiful morning and I just loved the tour of your special place in the world. Now I can picture you there more clearly. Your breakfast looked just right for California.

Wonderful post, Karen! I enjoyed seeing the sights in your locale. I also enjoyed Yorkshire Gold tea today, but didn't get all the other wonderful brunch things to go with it.

I was especially interested in the Butterfield Overland Stage --- because one of their stations along the trip west is a horseback ride behind the ranch house on my husband's family's ranch in Arizona. It's a place we have enjoyed hiking and riding by many times. I always thought it quite unique that there was a real stage station on the ranch.

I look forward to more!

I loved the tour of your town! How fun to show Prissy around. That waterfall is amazing. I can just imagine, a good book, a pot of tea, a few nibbles and a picnic blanket for the perfect afternoon. Thank You.
Sips and Smiles,

Loved your tour of Temecula with Prissy, Karen. I'm not too far from you, I'm in Rancho Penasquitos just down on the I15. So some of the locations looks familiar to me. What a fun spring tea too. Just lovely! Thank you, Robin
